Stuck in a Small Town / Cut paper
I feel that I’ve been in a sort of lack-of-motivation-to-make-anything-new rut, but finally…I’ve finished a new illustration! The idea behind this illo is one that’s been in my head since I moved back home after college (something I know more than a few of us college grads have had to do). One can often feel like opportunities are passing them by in their one stop light town and fear there’s no way out.

More iPad sketches! These kinda sum up my January thus far. Birthday, Portlandia, tea and home. I’m working on V-day and G-day cards at the moment. I’ll have them in the Lady Grey Boutique by next Wednesday!
There’s nothing I love more than sketching freely with good ole paper and pencil, but recently I’ve also become a fan of sketching on my iPad, Grey-C (shout out to “Santa” and yes, I name all of my electronics).
As soon as I unwrapped her (and my parents assured me that it was reality), I wanted to start sketching! I downloaded and reviewed drawing/painting apps to find myself obsessed with Wacom’s Bamboo Paper app. It’s a super simple app and doesn’t give you all the fancy options that most others have, but the simplicity and the way it translates the look of my drawing hand is what I love about it (see sketch above). When I’m feeling like a little more serious sketching I also use Autodesk’s Sketchbook app. I hope to share more of my iPad sketches soon!
New Illo! Above is a fashion illustration I submitted for Company Magazine’s fashion illustration casting call. I searched the S/S 2012 shows. Once I saw the Jil Sander show, I was in love! I wish the entire collection were in my wardrobe—I would wear it all!
I hope everyone’s having a great 2012 so far! So far, so good for me!
